The goal of this song is to inspire us to keep on pushing even in the face of adversity. We want to acknowledge all those people who were hurt physically or mentally in last year's bombing. So many of them have pushed forward with the support of our city. We also want to acknowledge all of the communities in Boston where gun violence has created a sense of terror that needs to end. We want our city to come together to end all forms of violence.
This song is one of celebration. It lifts up the strength of people young and old who keep on pushing and don't let their struggles hold them back. We love the metaphor of a race because it really symbolizes the ups and downs of life.
It is our hope that this song will become an anthem for this year's Boston Marathon and for people across this city and around the world who continue to strive!
The song was written by Issa Bibbins in collaboration with Turahn Dorsey (producer) and Shea Rose (MC). They all live in Boston and are committed to this city. The singer is a young Boston artist named Markie. The dance to the song was created by Wyatt Jackson with the youth from Project HIP-HOP.
